Use of electronic nose for quality assessment of agricultural ethanol distillates
One-hundred-thirty-five samples of EtOH-contg. agricultural distillates were tested for quality by using a prototype electronic nose. The distillates were bubbled with air to sep. the volatile components studied in a semiconductor sensor system (6 sensors) and evaluated with discriminant linear and quadratic functions supported with a cross-validation. The anal. confirmed that more than 96% of the samples were formerly classified correctly to the particular quality classes by a conventional (organoleptic) method.
