London Dispersive Component of the Surface Free-Energy and Surface Enthalpy
An interpretation of the results of inverse gas chromatography, at infinite dilution, is proposed for the determination of the London or dispersive component of the surface free energy and surface enthalpy of a solid, starting with the knowledge of the adsorption behavior of a -CH2- group of linear long-chain hydrocarbons. These values are theoretically discussed to provide meaningful results from the chromatographic technique at infinite dilution.
