Approximate expressions are presented of the repulsive energy due to the interaction of diffuse double layer at moderate potential, The case of two dissimilar parallel hat plates and of two dissimilar spheres are considered at constant surface potential. The formulas are derived using the improved Derjaguin's method and the concept of the effective reduced surface potential, which are an improvement on the Hogg-Healy-Fuerstenau formulas.
