The dependence of the diffuse reflection coefficient of blood on the concentration of red cells
We investigate here the dependence of the diffuse reflection coefficient R of thick layers of human blood on the volume fraction of red cells. It is found that this dependence is weak and can be neglected in most cases. This conclusion is important for problems of the blood spectroscopy and optical particle sizing of red cells. The asymptotical relations of the radiative transfer theory for weakly absorbing light scattering media are used to explain this effect.
