Thermo physical properties of wrought aluminum alloys 6061, 2219 and 2014 by gamma ray attenuation method
The temperature dependence of linear attenuation coefficient, density and thermal expansion of 6061, 2219 and 2014 aluminum alloys have been studied by gamma ray attenuation technique in the temperature range 298-773 K. The gamma ray attenuation studies have been carried out using a gamma ray densitometer fabricated in our laboratory. The linear attenuation coefficients (mu(1)) for the alloys as a function of temperature and the coefficients of temperature dependence of density have been reported. The variation of density and thermal expansion of these alloys have been represented by linear equations. Volume thermal expansion coefficients have been reported. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V.
