Nonvolatile insect repelling agent prepared by grafting of permethrin on polybutadiene

Permethin@PB was synthesized by grafting permethrin on PB to prepare nonvolatile insect repelling coating agent. HPLC and spectroscopic analyses confirm the grafting of permethrin on PB. There were no significant differences in insecticidal and insect repelling properties of Permethrin@PB coated polyester nets with control for exposure under 5 min. However, after exposed for 30 min followed by left alone for 1 h in cone with 10% sugar solution, 82.0% of knockdown was observed. After left alone for 24 h, on the other hand, 29.5% of fatality was obtained. This recovery of fainted 52.5% of mosquitoes is attributed to the disturbance on epidermal nervous network by nonvolatile permethrin on Permethrin@PB coated polyester net.
