The interfacial strength improvement of SMA composite using ZnO with electrochemical deposition method
In this work, we adopted a novel and promising method to improve the interfacial strength of the shape memory composite. Initially, the subulate ZnO was deposited with an electrochemical process on the surfaces of TiNi wire. The as-deposited TiNi wire was subsequently combined with the shape memory epoxy matrix. Single-fiber pull-out model was employed to study the interfacial behaviors of the shape memory alloys (SMA) composite. The results showed that the binding strength of composite by measuring shear stress was enhanced about 36% compared with that made using hand sanding method. The surface morphology of TiNi wire and the interaction between components in the composite were investigated by SEM. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
