AFM and STM Characterization of Electrochemically Modified Electrodes Based on a New Ni-Dibenzotetraaza(14) Annulene
Stable films of NiMe(3)TAA were grown electrochemically on Pt and HOPG surfaces. These films were examined by AFM and STM. High quality images were obtained. For AFM operated in the tapping mode, the images show that the polymer surface is composed of small, nanometer-scale polymer bundles and suggest a good degree of crystallinity of the film. Contact mode AFM images are exactly the same and indicate the stiffness of the film. STM images of very thin films reveal the presence of dimeric and monomeric species on the surface during the early steps of deposition.
