Bulk metallic glass Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 bipolar plates for proton exchange membrane fuel cell
Electrochemical behaviors of bulk metallic glass Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 are investigated in the solution of 0.05 M H2SO4 + 2 ppm F-, and the effect of potentiostatic polarization on interfacial contact resistance (ICR) between Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 and carbon paper is evaluated. Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 undergoes passivation, and passive film is very stable under anode or cathode operation condition. Only general corrosion takes place on the surface of Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 during potentiostatic polarization at applied potential. The ICR of Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 is around 8 m Omega cm(2) at compaction force of 150 N cm(-2), and the increased ICR results from the formation of surface passive film. The bulk metallic glass Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 is a potential material using as bipolar plate for proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) stacks. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
