Sorption of Pb(II) ions onto some filter materials used in water treatment technology
Pb2+ ions were adsorbed on a corn. granulated activated C, clinoptylolite and MnO2-modified chalcedonite to study the sorption kinetics and thermodynamics and to det. the sorption isotherms. Clinoptylolite was the best sorbent for removal Pb2+ ions from their aq. solns. The expt. data on clinoptylolite were well described by the Redlich-Peterson equation, while on the activated C by Freundlich and on the modified chalcedonite by Langmuir equations. The free energy of sorption was negative.
