Five Polish bituminous coals from Upper Silesian Coal Basin were studied for adsorption and desorption of CH4 and CO2, under lab. conditions at elevated temp. and pressure. Correlations between sorption capacity of CO2, and CH4 desorption ability, pressure of CH4 in the coal deposit and characteristic parameters of coal beds were established. A threshold pressure of CH4 in the bed for its displacement with CO2 was detd.
