A com. C black and waste rubber carbonizate were used as pigments for black varnishes studied then for pigment grinding and drying time, and used for coating steel plates. The coatings were then studied for relative hardness, resistance to corrosion, resistance to moisture, and resistance to simulated climate conditions. The carbonizate was a good substituent for C black.
