Formaldehyde Capture with Finger-Citron-Residue-Based Activated Carbon
Finger-citron-residue-based activated carbon (FAC) was tested as a new type of adsorbents for formaldehyde adsorption. The formaldehyde adsorption performance of the FAC compared with the other three types of commercially available activated carbons was evaluated. The equilibrium data are better described by the Langmuir model. The results show that FAC exhibited a high formaldehyde capacity due to its highly surface area and micro-porosity, which is superior to those reported previously in the literatures. The saturated FAC can be regenerated with deionized water washing. This work indicates that FAC could be employed as commercially available activated carbons for formaldehyde capture.
