Crystallization of silver metal by extract of Prunus × yedoensis Matsumura blossoms and its potential characterization

An aqueous extract of Yoshino cherry blossoms was used as a reducing agent for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. The silver nanoparticles obtained were characterized using UV.vis spectra, HR-TEM, XRD, SEM-EDS and FTIR analysis. These methods allow the synthesis of spherical and ovoid silver nanoparticles of approximately in the range between 10 and 20 nm with SPR band at 477.0 nm are obtained for the colloid synthesized at room temperature. The crystallinity of the nanoparticles was confirmed from the XRD pattern and the presence of biomolecules responsible for capping of the silver nanoparticles was confirmed by the FTIR spectra
