Adsorption Characteristics of Phenol from Aqueous Solution by Anion Exchange Membranes
Anion-exchange group was introduced into the polymer chains grafted onto a porous hollow fiber membrane by radiation-induced graft polymerization, and adsorption characteristics of phenol from aqueous solution were investigated. The adsorption of phenol by anion membrane for solution of different pH varied significantly and can be explained by the species distribution of phenol in aqueous solution. Desorption of phenol was achieved using 1N NaOH. A constant capacity for repeated cycles of adsorption and elution is required. No deterioration of the phenol adsorption capacity and elution percentage of the anion-exchange porous hollow fiber membrane was observed during five cycles.
