Treatment of Swine Wastewater by Anaerobic Filter Bioreactors
Lab- scale anaerobic filter bioreactors, anaerobic filter(AF) and two-stage hybrid packed with pall ring(Hybrid-PR) and sponge(Hybrid-SP), were evaluated in treating swine wastewater by operating at 1∼2days of hydraulic retention time with increasing organic loading rate upto 6.3kg-COD/m3·d. The anaerobic bioreactors were effective with COD removal efficiency of 66.4∼84.9% and biogas production rate of 0.333∼0.796m3/kg-CODremoved·d. Increase of organic loading rate caused decrease in COD removal efficiency and increase in biogas production rate. At relatively high organic loading rate, the treatment efficiency of AF and Hybid-PR were similar but superior than that of Hybrid-SP, indicating that porosity and pore size of the media packed in thd bioreactor are important factors contributing the performance of the anaerobic bioreactors in treating swine wastewaters.
