Crystal Structure of 4(1''-butenyl) 4' (cyano)1,1' bicyclohexane
The crystal and molecular structure of the nematogenic compound 4(1"-butenyl) 4'(cyano)1,1' bicyclohexane, C17H27N, has been determined from X-ray diffraction analysis at 273 K. The compound crystallizes in the form of a centrosymmetric monoclinic system with space group P2(1)/c, a=6.4040 (1) Angstrom, b=20.4180(1) Angstrom, c=22.9570(1) Angstrom, beta=94.9570(1)degrees, and z=8. Two independent molecules in the crystal have slightly different conformations, but the geometric parameters are normal. The molecular packing is nematic-like.
