Toward the (nearly) complete elimination of solvent waste in Ring Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP) reactions
This short communication describes current efforts geared toward the development of solvent-free, Ring Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP) processes. It has been found that the preparation of homo and copolymers can be accomplished under solvent-free ROMP reaction conditions using both liquid and solid monomers under air. Typical reactions are operationally simple and can be run under air and the polymer products can be isolated using minimal amounts of organic solvents. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
