Effect of SDS modification of carbon black nanoparticles on corrosion protection behavior of epoxy nanocomposite coatings
The aim of this work was to obtain a suitable dispersion of carbon black (CB) nanoparticles in a polymer matrix using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The effect of SDS surfactant on dispersion of CB nanoparticles in solvent and epoxy resin and also the corrosion behavior of CB coatings were investigated by means of scanning and transmission electron microscopies, Zeta potential, dynamic light scattering and thermogravimetric analyser. The effect of CB nanoparticles dispersion on corrosion properties of nanocomposites was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed improved corrosion resistance of the modified CB/epoxy coatings.
