Study on biodegradability of bis-quaternary ammonium salts used as gemini surfactants
Five bis(quatemary ammonium salts) were synthesized and studied for biodegradability by detn. of declining the water-sol. org. C content. The surfactants were also characterized by mass spectroscopy. The bis(quaternary ammonium salts) showed lower biodegradability than the usual quaternary ammonium salts.
