Metakaolin was treated with alk. agents at low temp. and studied for morphol., d., sp. surface, pore and micropore vols., thermal decompn. and cation-exchange capacity. The treatment resulted in decrease in d., pore diam. and thermal stability as well as in an increase in sp. surface, pore vol. and micro pore surface.
