The antimicrobial properties of polylactide films covered with ZnO nanoparticles-containing layers
Polilactide film was coated with ZnO nanoparticles on methylhydroxypropylcellulose (MHPC) and gluten carriers and studied for antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli strains. Pure MHPC-contg. coating was not active against E. coli and S. aureus strains while hydrophobic gluten-contg. coating showed very good activity against S. aureus. The ZnO nanoparticles both on MHPC and on gluten showed complete retardation of the S. aureus and E. coli strains growth.
