A mixt. of artificial and real sewages was treated with air in presence or in absence of NH3-oxidizing archea in 20 L reactors for 12 h to study the kinetics of sewage purifn. by detn. of chem. O-2 demand and N contents. The addn. of archea resulted in decrease in energy consumption and in increase in denitrification rate.
