Briquetting of sewage sludge with burnt lime and coal in a roll press
Sewage sludge was utilized as a fuel by addn. of CaO as a drying agent and mixing with fine-grained coal for increasing the energy d. The products contained 50% or 67% of coal and 5% or 3.5% of CaO with respect to the dry mass and were briqueffed in a lab. roll press. Their comprehensive strength and comparative for the sludge were detd. using a thermogravimetric method. The temp. of combustion, ash content and d. of the briquettes decreased with increasing coal content but did not depend on the rotational speed of the press. The combustion and pyrolysis curves were also detd. by thermogravimetry.
