Evaluation of agricultural and animal origin waste-to-energy technologies and the environmental impact of their co-firing with fossil fuels
Two corn. mixts. of meat-bone meal and rape straw were fired optionally in blends (10%) with a bituminous coal to study hazardous emissions in the flue gas. The addn. of the biomass mixts. to the coal resulted in a substantial increase in the CO, SO2, NO and org. matter emissions after firing the fuels. The calorific value of the biomass mixts. was also lower than that of the coal.
