Enhanced proton conduction of BaZr0.9Y0.1O3-delta by hybrid doping of ZnO and Na3PO4
Hybrid doping of ZnO and Na3PO4 are employed to improve the sintering ability and the proton conductivity of BaZr0.9Y0.1O3-delta. Ceramic is obtained by sintering at 1260 degrees C, the lowest sintering temperature for BaZrO3-based electrolyte. It is demonstrated that a second amorphous phase is uniformly dispersed around the grain boundary of BaZr0.9Y0.1O3-delta The electrical properties of the composite under 3% wet H-2, 3% wet N-2, and dry N-2 atmospheres are investigated from 400 degrees C to 750 degrees C by AC impedance spectroscopy. The results show that the conductivity of the BaZr0.9Y0.1O3-delta/ZnO/Na3PO4 ceramic is improved by more than one order of magnitude over the BaZr0.9Y0.1O3-delta/ZnO ceramic under wet H-2 atmosphere.
