Transflective in-plane-switching liquid crystal display with patterned retarders
Conventional cell configurations for a transflective liquid crystal (LC) cell have a complicated structure, since the amount of retardation for the transmissive part and the reflective part are not same. As a result, several retardation films are needed to compensate simultaneously the retardation of the reflective part and that of the transmissive part. In this paper, a simple configuration for a transflectiue in-plane-switching UPS) LC mode is proposed, which uses multi-domains and patterned retarders.
