Recent advances in the synthesis and functionalization of tellurophene heterocycles have led to a resurgence of interest in this field of research. Accordingly, this Highlight Review serves to showcase key breakthroughs including the use of tellurophenes as conducting units for polymer-based solar cells and the development of next-generation light-emitting materials.
