A New Platinum(II) Metalloligand System with D-Penicillaminate: An Excellent Stereoselectivity in the Formation of S-bridged (Pt2Co2III)-Co-II and (Pt2Ni2II)-Ni-II Complexes with Opposite Hydrogen-bonding Helix Structures
The reactions of a newly prepared Pt-II metalloligand, trans-[Pt(NH3)(2)(D-pen-S)(2)](2-) (D-H(2)pen: D-penicillamine), with Co2+ and Ni2+ in water under aerobic conditions selectively gave a cationic (Pt2Co2III)-Co-II complex, [{Pt(NH3)(2)}(2){Co(D-pen-N,O,S)(2)}(2)](2+), and a neutral (Pt2Ni2II)-Ni-II complex, [{Pt(NH3)(2)}(2){Ni(D-pen-N,O,S)(2)}(2)], respectively. While these complexes have essentially the same tetranuclear molecular structures, they formed hydrogen-bonding helix structures with an opposite handedness in crystal.
