The feasibility of using a pilot scale membrane pervaporation process based on a downstream sweeping air system to concentrate diluted brine was studied experimentally. Hollow fiber membrane cartridges, un-treated and pre-treated using proprietary immobilization methods, were used. The results obtained were quite satisfactory and comparable to those obtained previously in laboratory scale tests using a single membrane cartridge. Further development of this process is also envisaged.
