Electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of fluorene-based derivatives as precursors for conjugated polymers
Novel bisheterocyclic derivatives of dialkylfluorene were investigated. The main attention was paid to their opto-electronic and electrochemical properties bearing in mind their prospective usage. Electropolymerization of monomers leads to conducting films for thiophene and furane derivatives, while the presence of pyridine free electron pair does not allow growing the polymer chain for this monomer. The properties of the copolymers depend greatly on the synthesis conditions like solvent polarity and applied potential range. Conducting copolymers show high stability under ambient conditions. Their energy gap values were estimated with electrochemical and spectroscopic methods. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
