Mechanism diversity in anodic oxidation of N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine by varying pH
The electrochemical behavior of N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine (DMPD) was studied in aqueous media at various pH regions using cyclic voltammetry. Diagnostic criteria of cyclic voltammetry indicate mechanism diversity in anodic oxidation by varying pH. It is confirmed that the electrochemical oxidation of DMPD as an infrequent real case occurs via various mechanistic disciplines such as CE at pH 0, EE at pH 3-6, ECE in basic solutions and simple E at other pHs.
