Extraction of Alanine Using Emulsion Liquid Membranes Featuring a Cationic Carrier
To recover alanine (Ala) from the secondary isoelectric-point crystallization mother liquor of glutamic acid, a new separation method using an emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) process is studied. The membrane phase consists of D2EHPA (di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid), Span 80 (sorbitan monooleate), and kerosene acting as carrier, surfactant, and diluent, respectively. The appropriate extraction conditions are obtained according to various affecting factors. The demulsification is investigated in a high electrostatic field. Further, a functional relation between demulsification rate and the relevant operating factors is established.
