Micellar enhanced ultrafiltration using PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers
The solubilization characteristics of PEO-PPO-PEO(polyethyleneoxide-polypropyleneoxide-polyethyleneoxide) block copolymers for aqueous solutions containing 1-naphthol and phenol, respectively, were investigated to examine their possibility of use as new surfactants for forming micelles in MEUF (micellar enhanced ultrafiltration). The optimum conditions for MEUF process to remove the solutes such as 1-naphthol and phenol from wastewater were examined. A method for regeneration and recycling of the polymer used in the separation of solutes in MEUF was proposed based on the concept of micellar temperature range and found to be very effective.
