Electrochemical preparation of Pt nanoparticles supported on porous graphene with ionic liquids: Electrocatalyst for both methanol oxidation and H2O2 reduction
Herein, a composite of Pt loaded on the support of porous graphene with ionic liquids (Pt-IL-pGR) was synthesized by a one-step electrochemical reduction route. The formation and structure of the synthesized Pt-IL-pGR nanostructure was systematically characterized by SEM, XRD, EIS and XPS and the results suggest the existence of the porosity in graphene as well as the uniform distribution of Pt NPs on the pGR surface with the help of IL. For the further study, we used the material as the electrocatalyst for both methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) and electrochemical detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The present investigations certified that the Pt-IL-pGR nanocomposite processes excellent electrochemical performance and it also provides a new generic approach for designing multifunctional metallic nanoparticles-GR catalysts.
