Variability of the composite resins adhesion with the dental substrate preparation and the used adhesive type
Although adhesive technology is complicated and the dental substrate can vary in nature and quality, the adhesive-tooth interface must be intimate in order to establish a strong bonding. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence on the composite resins dental surface adhesion of the preparation mode characteristics and the dental adhesive used. In this regard, samples from extracted teeth were used. The subsequently preparation of the samples was carried out differently for each group. After applying the adhesive and the composite material to the samples, the cross-section areas were analyzed by optical and electron microscopy. The adhesion between the tooth tissue and the dental composite was emphasized. Not only adhesive systems, but also the nature of the substrate must be taken into account in order to obtain a stable bonding interface, making the restorative treatment more predictable in terms of clinical performance.
