Effect of pulse plating parameters on the structure and properties of electrodeposited Ni-Mo films
The effects of pulse electrodeposition parameters on the properties of nickel-molybdenum coatings are presented in this paper. In order to evaluate the structure and surface topography of the Ni-Mo coatings X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were employed, respectively. Microstructure and composition of the coatings were also studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis. Experimental results revealed that the Mo increased by decreasing the duty cycle owing to the mass transport effects. In addition, it was found that an increase in pulse frequency could lead to decrease in surface roughness and increase in Mo content. The XRD spectra illustrated that the structure tends to amorphous like as Mo increases in the coatings. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
