Fractal dimension and intermittency coefficients of certain flow variables in Newtonian and non-Newtonian turbulent flows
The multifractality as well as the asymptotic values of the moments are used to characterize the differences of the intermittent properties of u'(2), u'(2), (u'v')(2) and (partial derivative u'/partial derivative t)(2) for three different turbulent flows at the same flow conditions. It is shown how Newtonian flows differ from drag reducing dilute polymer and surfactant solutions, in that the polymer acts primarily in the near wall zone whereas the surfactants in the core of the flow.
