A comparative study of sequential extraction methods for identification of trace elements fractions (Cr, Ni, Pb, Cd) in urban soils from several parks
Thirty two soil samples were collected from Warsaw urban parks and studied for pH, and contents of org. C, Cr, Ni, Pb and Cd. Two sequential extn. methods based on a successive treatment with (i) MgCl2, AcONa, NH2OH, HNO3, H2O2, AcONH4 and HCl/HNO3 solns. (Tessier method) or with (ii) aq. AcOH, NH2OH/HNO3, H2O2, AcONH4, HNO3 and HF/HNO3/HClO4 solns. (BCR method) were used. The methods did not differ in efficiency of Cr, Ni and Cd detn. but the Pb content was higher when the (ii) BCR method was used for the soil anal. The detd. content of the heavy metals studied did not exceed the allowable limits.
