A theory of transversely isotropic plastic viscoelastic fluids to represent the flow of talc and similar disc-like particle suspensions in thermoplastics
An anisotropic formulation of a linear plastic viscoelastic fluid is presented. This is specialized to transversely isotropic form intended to represent the behavior of suspensions of ordered oriented disc flake particles such as talc and mica whose surfaces are oriented parallel to apparatus surfaces and which exhibit yield values in flow. Asymptotic formulations of this theory are described. Non-linear generalizations of the linear theory are developed and discussed in terms of experiment.
