From a ring polymer to a tribridged multicyclic nanoconstruct
Our previous work on macromolecular pyramoids is extended to a nanostructure made of macromolecular rings connected with linear polymeric chains. The example of two and three rings of different molecular weights connected with three linear polymeric segments is explicitly studied. The sizes of the ring parts as well as of the linear connectors are given and utilized to derive indications for large internal volume and surface openings of the macromolecular nanoconstructs. Indications of helical structures are also discussed. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
