Convenient (1+1) probe of S(D-1(2)) and application to photodissociation of carbonyl sulfide at 216.9 nm
We introduce a 1 + 1 probe of S(D-1) at 216.9 nm through the (4s S-3(o)) state, and demonstrate it in onecolor experiments to examine the photodissociation of OCS using DC slice imaging. As seen in previous work, the S(D-1) image shows a bimodal distribution corresponding to two dissociation pathways of the parent molecule. The slice images are rotationally resolved across the entire product velocity profile. Separate two-color experiments allow us to determine that the probe is insensitive to orbital polarization in the sulfur atom under the conditions studied. (C) 2016 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
