in the Bellota field in southern Mexico, oil production is from dolomite formations and has declined to less than one-half the peak. Gas Lift (GL) is the only feasible artificial-lift system for this depleted field, and the use of nitrogen (N-2) as a GL source is necessary to keep the Bellota wells producing. After evaluating available options, local N-2 generation with membrane technology was the best solation.
