PVT properties of 1-propanol in the critical and supercritical regions
PVT relationship of the pure 1-propanol was measured. Measurements were concentrated in the immediate vicinity of the critical and supercritical regions in order to closely observe the features of the asymptotical critical behavior of PVT and other derived thermodynamic properties along the various thermodynamic path (critical isochore and isotherm, liquid-gas coexistence and vapor-pressure curves near the critical point). The measurements have been made over the temperature range from (428-573) K for liquid and vapor isochores between (25.7 and 658.1) kg m(-3) up to 59.5 MPa using a high-temperature and high-pressure constant-volume piezometer. The combined expanded uncertainty of the density (rho), pressure (P), and temperature (T) measurements at the 95% confidence level with a coverage factor of k = 2 is estimated to be 0.15%, (0.02-0.05) %, and 15 mK, respectively. Measured saturated liquid and vapor densities were used to accurate determine the values of pressure mixing asymmetry parameter a(3) and Yang-Yang anomaly parameter RN,. The critical properties data T-C = 536.85 +/- 0.2 K, P-C = 5.28 +/- 0.02 MPa, and rho(C) = 273.22 +/- 2 kg m(-3), were extracted from the measured PVT data. The measured PVT and other derived properties were used to estimate their asymptotical critical amplitudes (D-0, Gamma(+)(0), Gamma(-)(0), B-0) and test the universal critical amplitude relations (A(0)(+)Gamma B-+(0)0(2), D-0 Gamma B-+(0)0(delta-1), Gamma(+)(0)/Gamma(-)(0)).
