Use of mesoporous and colloidal silicas for adsorption and release of diflunisal
A com. mesoporous SiO2 and a colloidal SiO2 both modified with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane were used as the carriers for an anti-inflammatory drug (diflunisal). The max. adsorption capacity for the mesoporous SiO2 was more than 2,5-fold higher than that of modified colloidal SiO2. The equil. adsorption data were better fitted by the Langmuir isotherm than with the Dubinin-Radushkevich one. Spherical surface of the colloidal SiO2 contributed to a higher velocity of diflunisal release, than that of mesoporous SiO2 channels.
