Liquidus experimental data for the system Cu-O-Cr2O3 in air
The liquidus of the system Cu-O-Cr2O3 was experimentally investigated in air for the first time using equilibration techniques. The composition of glassy liquid oxide phase in equilibrium with CuCrO2 was quantified using Electron Probe Micro-Analyzer (EPMA). Liquidus data in the temperature range from 1130-1400 degrees C, have been obtained based on two phase equilibria experimental data. The calculated liquidus using version 8.1 of MTOX database is different from the newly obtained experimental results. The eutectic temperature and its composition have also been investigated and found to be at 1112 +/- 2 degrees C and at 2.06 wt% Cr2O3, respectively. This value is closer to the calculated eutectic using MTOX database where it is located at 1110 degrees C and 1.8 wt% Cr2O3. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
