Electron transport of bis(terpyridine)iron(II) complex wires on a semiconducting electrode
The electron transport phenomena of ferrocene- and triarylamine-terminated bis(terpyridine)iron(II) complex wires on p-type silicon(111) electrodes were electrochemically investigated. The ferrocene unit at the terminus of the wire exhibited the large redox peak separation in cyclic voltammogram indicating the slow electron transport, while the triarylamine unit gave a reversible redox wave derived from the rapid charge transport. These different redox behaviors of the terminal redox species were discussed based on the band structure of silicon and the energy levels of wire components. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V.
