Enhanced Durability of Porous Carbon/Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube Composite Electrodes for Supercapacitors
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) synthesized by the super-growth method were combined with activated carbon or one of several mesoporous carbons to create composite electrode materials for supercapacitors without binders or additional conductive materials. These composite electrodes exhibited lower charge transfer resistance and higher durability than a conventional electrode containing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) binders. Grinding the porous carbon particles was found to increase the density of the composite electrodes, leading to an even higher energy density per volume. (C) 2016 The Electrochemical Society.
