Enhancing visible light photocatalytic activity of TiO2 using a colorless molecule (2-methoxyethanol) due to hydrogen bond effect
Extending the light absorption of TiO2 to the visible region is realized using a colorless molecule (2-methoxyethanol). The as-prepared MES-TiO2 displays efficient photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation. The hydrogen bond between MES and TiO2 is found to be responsible for the visible light absorption of TiO2, which is confirmed by FT-IR, DRS, PL spectra and density of states calculation.
