The research on the sliding friction and wear behaviors of TiAl-10 wt% Ag at elevated temperatures
The objective of this paper was to study effect of competitive mechanism between 0 and Ag contents on the friction and wear behaviors of TiAl-10 wt%Ag. Based on the changes in the contents of 0 and Ag on wear scars, the tribological performance of TiAl-10 wt%Ag was analyzed sliding against silicon nitride balls at 25-900 degrees C. The testing results showed the excellent sliding friction and wear behavior of TiAl-10 wt%Ag was mainly attributed to the forming of lubricating film containing massive Ag at 450 degrees C. It was found that at 0-30 min, the friction coefficient and wear rate were rapidly lowered with the increasing of 0 and Ag contents. At 30-240 min, massive Ag was squeezed out of TiAl-10 wt%Ag to form lubricating film containing massive Ag, it decreased oxidation reaction rate and resulted in the increasing of Ag content and the decreasing of 0 content on wear scar. The sliding friction coefficients and wear rates of TiAl-10 wt%Ag were further lowered at 30-240 min. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
